Disney Has An IP Problem
Disney’s recent remake of Snow White has sparked a lot of conversation, but not for the reasons you might expect. While most criticisms revolve around the film’s deviations from the original story, I believe the real issue lies deeper. Disney has become its own worst enemy. By relying too heavily on its established IP, Disney is neglecting the fundamental principles of storytelling that made its classics timeless. In a world where audiences crave engaging, emotional narratives, an overreliance on familiarity has led to hollow films that fail to connect on a deeper level. It's time Disney stops treating its IP like a free pass to bypass meaningful story development and remembers the art of cinema.
